Mind * Body * Spirit

In our culture we tend to prioritize and spend most of our time in our heads, our minds, and using our brains. This is what we’ve been trained to do. I would challenge us today to ask (and answer and act on) three additional questions honestly:

What does my body need today to feel good?
What does my soul need today to feel good?

The answer will be different every time you ask, and it will not come from the brain. It will occur like something you just know.

For example, if I ask “what does my body need today?” the answer is “fresh air”. My body is longing to be part of the springtime experience (even if it is still only 30 degrees out there). Sometimes the answer is a good nights sleep, a glass of water, or a night of dancing.

If I ask “what does my soul need right now?” the answer is “silence”. This means that in spite of being in get-out-of-town-by-noon-tomorrow mode that it would benefit me to find at least 5 minutes of peaceful down time.

The trick is to not let our brains be deciding what we should be doing to take care of bodies and our spirits. If that’s the case, we often create demanding, rigourous To Do List about diet, exercise, and meditation. The answer is to have a continuous dialogue where you let your body and soul speak for themselves.

Let us know what you discover!
