My house is a mess.

Right now my house is a mess. In 24 hours it will NOT be a mess because company (our much loved Dutch Tiara Program Coaches) will be here staying with me. My messy house situation is cyclical for me, generally on a weekly basis. I get everything aligned by Sunday night, then by Friday it feels completely out of order. I’m observing this pattern in my life closely as we start our month focused on alignment in our lives.

Alignment can be internal, like aligning our beliefs, thoughts, focus, conversations, actions, and agreements with our purpose, values, callings or goals. Alignment can be physical like a visit to a good chiropractor or acupuncturist. Alignment can be environmental like the systems, structures, and space. When my life is aligned it feels peaceful and flowing. When it is not aligned it feels stressful and clunky.

If alignment feels good and is within my grasp, then why do I find myself in an unaligned home every week? Is this disorder an external reflection on my internal self? Or is it just rebellious persistent adolescent bad housekeeping habits? I think both.

OK, so if there’s a connection between my inner and outer feeling of peace and order, which comes first? An internal sense of focus and alignment? Or a clean house? My hypothesis is either. I think I can reach that feeling of alignment, purposefulness and flow either by assessing my thoughts, feelings, values, etc. Or I can clean my house.

What do you think comes first? Internal alignment or external order? Are they at all connected for you? Do you feel in the flow in chaos? I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this one!
