What keeps you off balance?

This past month, Tiara has hosted a 4 part tele-series about life integration. One thing I know is that when I am flexible and go with the flow, I am much more successful at feeling integrated in my life and more “in balance”. So that had me thinking . . . what are the things that keep me off balance, or keep me from feeling like my life is integrated and working?
Here is a short list of things that I do to keep me off balance . . .
- I set an expectation for how I want something to go and then I hang on to it like it “has to happen” – or else. We call this being attached to an outcome!
- I don’t communicate what has changed for me . . . I usually do a good job of communicating what I want and then when things change I forget to take the time to share that new game plan with the people around me. In sports it’s like calling a play in the huddle and then going out and seeing something and running a different play but not telling your teammates. No wonder the play doesn’t work.
- Doing things I don’t want to do or doing things I feel I have to do. When I allow my mind to wallow in not wanting to do something it sucks the energy right out of me and makes it 10 times worse than it really is.
With a little focus and intentionality I believe I can shift from feeling off balance to feeling fully integrated another 70% of the time. And the best way I know how to do that is to take it one short segment of time -at a time. We call that “segment intending”, i.e., when you break things into shorter time frames and set an intention for how you want to feel and what you would like to have as an outcome for that period of time.
What are some things you can do that will enhance your integration and offset your feelings of “off balance”?
