Yep, it’s okay to be happy …

I’ve had several conversations this past week with people who are worried, concerned, and nervous because … they are getting what they want! These are people who have job offers on the table that seem like great opportunities — but they haven’t been looking that hard yet. People who’ve just started dating — and already seem to have met a great person. People who actually had a good business year in ‘09 — and are getting even better results in ‘10.

I know, some of us might be jealous because we’re not experiencing that in all areas of our lives right now. Let’s set that aside for a moment and just take a look at the quirkiness of human behavior in these scenarios. We say we want a great job without looking. We say we want to be in a relationship with a great guy. We say we want to have a solid business in spite of the economy. And when we get those things we STILL find something to worry or stress over instead of just receiving, appreciating, and being grateful in that moment. The only way to have a life of peace and ease is to allow ourselves to feel peaceful and let things be easy — especially when they are! Life gives us lots of challenges along the way. My thought for the month is let’s not add stress or concern needlessly. Let’s enjoy those moments of peace, accomplishment, success, and easy results fully!

Your thoughts? Examples of enjoying peace and ease? Or examples of where you won’t, even though things are peaceful and easy?

  1. I love this! It really strikes me that peace and ease are choices to be made and not feelings that will just wash over us when the perfect sequence of events occurs. In fact there is ALWAYS something to worry about if we look hard enough.

I’m relating this to the experience of moving recently. We hired movers for the first time ever, and I noticed what a strong urge I had to help…as if I hadn’t already done enough by packing, wrapping, and labeling everything. While there certainly wasn’t anything wrong with carrying a few boxes, was it really worth it when I could have just sat outside and sipped on some iced tea and enjoyed the moment? In the end I did a little of both. Quirky me.
